Energy shift in greenhouse production to accelerate the transition to renewable energy with the team from RE-Greenhouse, an Interreg North-West Europe project.
This is an invitation to join us as a stakeholder in the discussion of the potential impact for you of RE-Greenhouse, an exciting new EU co-funded project focused on driving the transition to renewable energy in the greenhouse sector.
Why RE-Greenhouse Matters
With the North-West Europe region hosting the highest density of heated greenhouses internationally -where fossil fuels remain the primary energy source- this initiative addresses climate resilience and food security while enhancing the sector's competitiveness. The RE-Greenhouse project unites 11 expert partners from 5 countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands) to explore innovative renewable energy solutions in greenhouses. Each partner brings unique expertise, and the project will implement six pilot projects utilizing different renewable energy technologies, including solar power, heat networks, residual heat, pellet and wood heating systems, and biogas.
Be part of the change
To date, the partnership has visited the pilot project AGROTOPIA in Roeselare (Belgium) and the training site pilot project IFSB in Bettembourg (Luxembourg) and is now gathering wider engagement with stakeholder groups from the regions, in particular, tech suppliers, regional energy companies and grid operators, municipalities and grower associations and cooperatives. The FarmTech Society already organized such online meeting on November 6th at 16:30 CET. More stakeholders can join by signing up on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn-group: Knowledge Exchange
By fostering new cross-border collaboration and important knowledge-sharing, RE-Greenhouse will empower greenhouse operators to embrace renewable energy sources and reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. The project will also develop a decision-support tool to help optimize
- energy flow,
- production,
- consumption,
- and storage in greenhouses in the wider context of regional energy transition.
Join the wider stakeholder groups in each region to learn more about these groundbreaking initiatives and how they aim to inspire greenhouse operators across North-West Europe to transition to sustainable energy sources.
